Make it look like a garden room. Put some funky stuff like bright pink or purple. Make it look new age. Buy some shelves to cover up those areas that look tacky. And some posters or paintings. You can get a huge picture of yourself ???? or New York buildings on teenager.com and plaster it all over the wall. Just some funky ideas. get some nice fake palm trees light them up for the holidays too. But not too tacky. I love garden room with a New York theme.

Happy Holidays
Oh you can get an area rug or if you want the rug to be changed ask the owner if you can change it and if he is willing to do so with his consent and you will pay for it. But ask kindly first. Do it around the holidays. He might think of it as a treat. Be nice. and do it before you move the stuff in and ASK him first... Or there is a war.. Owners have more rights. Remember.
Mirrors are good too to make it bigger with the buildings.
and some hanging lights like in Starbucks coffee shop...

pale pink will warm up the look of your room, and to lighten the atmosphere - use a large plain, cream or off white rug?

Treat dark green as a neutral. It is considered to be a jewel tone (as in diamonds and jewels)

Deep tones - ruby, amethyst, sapphires, emerald, garnet, topaz all will work beautifully in the rooms.

Tan/taupe/beige/off white/cream etc will brighten it. Shades of orange with add flair. Golds will create a cozy feel.

You actually have more options than you realize - cause almost everything will work and be gorgeous!

Say you have a brown leather sofa, add some plaid, stripped, or solid pillows in ruby, sapphire, and gold. Add a few candles in these same colors and a huge mirror (to lighten & brighten the space), add a large house plant and put it in a container (pot) that is the same color as one of the pillows. Place a few books a the end table/coffee table for interest and add a couple of small pictures of outdoor scenes. Try thrift shops, second hand stores, yard or truck sales, etc. for cheap but great items. Suddenly you will realize you have created an interesting, exciting, and relaxing living room.

For other ideas look through some decorating magazines for tons of cheap , yet exciting ideas. Hope this helps.

It all means on your taste. Dark green carpet and white walls, actually is very neutral. Depending on the rest of your furniture, you can add any accent pieces you feel like. A modern look would be to add white or silver. A homey feel is to add darker colors. Remember that you can add art work to any wall and change the feeling of a room. Texture, color and patterns are the strong points of a room. Do not think that there are specific rules that you have to obey, in decorating.
