Does anyone have any ideas on how I could decorate my sons room?

he is 8 and wanted a race car room. I have painted his room red and put black and white checkered lightswitch, big checkered flag on the wall and race car comforter, a poster of Dale jr, and a dale jr pendent on the wall. we have textured walls so I am limited to wallpaper border cause it wont stay. Does anyone have any ideas that arent expensive that i can put on the walls or any ideas?

Buy some of those racks that are made to display die cast cars and let him start a collection of Nascar themed Hotwheels and Matchbox cars….these make a great replacement for pictures. If Hotwheels still offers the cases in the shape of a tire, that would be great. Also, Walmart has a terrific wall clock in the shape of a tire with wrenches as the hour and minute hand.

how about a big number 8 on the outside of the door to his bedroom if his room has a carpet try and find small carpets with Dale’s Jr. car on them also put a big picture of Dale Jr on the inside of his door.

Your possibilities are without limit… You can contact a couple of companies that manufacture or distribute different car-related products and enquire about getting posters or different promotional stuff with their logo — think tires, motor oil… An old tire can be screwed to the wall and put a piece of wood in it so it can be used as a shelf. Download logos from different companies and organizations and print them on sticker paper then apply to storage bins and other items in the room. Find a helmet like those worn by race car drivers and hang it somewhere — from a bed post would be cool, if your son has a bed with posts. Have a display of model race cars on shelves or in a Plexiglas display (you can make your own display case to fit your needs for less than it costs to buy a ready-made one). I have seen area rugs for kids that look like a race car circuit — keep your son’s feet warm while giving him a neat play surface.

This is a really fun project; enjoy it and good luck!

It’s a good idea to know what you have before you begun to change things.
