Wallpaper??

What is the best way to remove wallpaer? This wallpaper has been up a while! I got the "vinyl" part of the wallpaer off, but there is the "paper" side still on the wall. Can anyone offer any ideas that will not screw up my wall? thanks in advance.

Well I agree with everyone except the one who says not to use DIF. Using some solution as apposed to just plain water is best. Even if you use just plain dish washing liquid. The solution helps hold the water onto the wall. Really you can use DIF, any dish liquid, fabric softener, or any liquid soap)Spray it on to the wall somehow. (Pump sprayer, spray bottle, Garden sprayer, etc.)Just remember to be sure the wall is wet, and let it set for awhile and keep wetting it if it begins to dry out before you get the paper off. Even wait about 15 minutes after you first wet it to begin removing the paper, keeping the wall wet.If you do it right it will peal off in huge sheets with minimal damage to the wall and minimal scraping. This method will also keep you from having to wash the wall as much after the paper is off.

Get a spray bottle, fill it with warm water and spray until wet. Use a scraper (not sharp) or a windshield ice remover to remove. Otherwise, buy the "DIF" stuff at Home Depot or Lowe’s, use the scraper and do it that way.

Yep, the one above is correct. All you need is a spray bottle with some water. You might have to get it pretty wet and let it soak into the glue beneath, but it will come right off once it penetrates. From experience, I think this is the best way to get the paper off without hurting your wall.

If you don’t want to use DIF, just add fabric softener. ( Makes the room smell great, too)

I get out a pot and warm water and a sponge and just keep dampening the paper while peeling it off…The stuff that sprays like a gel dif I think it is….is for the birds people!!!! Fast and easiest way since you already got the vinyl off is water and more water until it is ready to fall off…than clean the walls since glue may be left behind…and voila you are done…

Hire a wall paper steamer, they are really worth the outlay as it will save you hours of work.

    Experience.
