wallpaper ????????
I am currently painting the inside of my house, and hate it…it’s slow and messy. I have been looking at wallpaper, there are so many different kinds now, but have never had the opportunity to hang wallpaper, does anyone have any experience with it, and is it easier and faster than painting…do you like the end results……I just detest painting sooo much, always have.

well unless your talkin about heavy duty commercial grade vinyl it is not really easier then painting. If your using standard residential grade here are some tricks. First off, dont make the mistake of thinkin the that thin paper will cover any defects, you will need to prep the walls as much as you would with with paint. Second if your tryin to make it esier on yourself choose a paper that has no pattern that way you dont spend lots of time trying to but seams, instead with non patterned paper you can just overlap the sheets and double cut them, over lap about two inches and use a good quality wall paper knife and i would recommend teflon coated blades. then you just over lap them a couple inches and make a cut in the over lap tryin to mantain as strait as line as possible but it neednt be perfect. the n remove the excess strips from both sheets and smooth you seam back down. now if you insist on having a pattern you will need to make sure the paper is VERY straight on the wall. so start by finding the place at whicjh the paper would end if coming off the corner with about a sixteeth of an inch wrapped into the coner then use a level to make a straight line on the outside edge of where you paper should fall. then continue doin this all the way around not every sheet but check it often. Never count on a corner being straight. Next, (sorry about the disorder of these) you will want to cover the wall with wall size to give the paper a good surface to stick to before hanging. Also i usually find that the adhesive that comes on the paper is sufficient to perform the task so i always roll my walls out with some clear strippable wall paer glue right b4 i hang my sheets. i think that covers most of the basics but here are some extra tips. buy a paint that matches the base color of the paper and either paint the walls b4 or if afterward some of your seams start whowing some white rub the paint in the seam and wash off the excess this is a great way to hide seams. Also, in almost all applications unless the moisture content of your wall is extremely low there will be bubbles, simply buy a wall paper syringe and about 24 hours after hangin go back over it and shoot some glue into the bubbles and smooth them out. also look at the paper you buy it will give you more tips about the specific patter or texture like some sheets need reversed one up then one down. I hope this helps but again, its really alot more complicted then painting ion most situations.
I have done heaps of wallpapering, it’s much easier than it looks, but it can be time comsuming, messy and fiddly. If you don’t like fiddling with edges, getting the pattern to match, then maybe it’s not for you. You do see quick results which I like. From the very first strip you can see how it’s going to look.
I’d say give it a try though, maybe on a small room first. The rewards are certainly worth it.
Your getting some good advice, I feel that if you never hung wallpaper have someone help you that has,
it can be frustrating and time consuming for a beginner also vary expensive if you mess up.
Their is a lot to hanging wall paper with or with out a pattern on it, it’s a lot easier to pant even if you have to go over it twice , panting is also a lot faster.
